DetailsThe Astartes Mk III Bolt Pistol is a compact, slower-firing version of the Space Marine Boltgun. Designed as a backup weapon, it nonetheless provides ample stopping power.

The Bolt Pistol is the default ranged weapon for Captain Titus in the single-player campaign, and is the standard-issue sidearm of the Space Marines. It is a compact pistol version of the Bolter, and is generally wielded alongside a Space Marine's melee weapon.

Description Edit

Like the Bolter, it fires small missiles, or "bolts" (typically .75 or .998 caliber). Each self-propelled bolt contains an explosive charge that detonates once it has penetrated the target, blowing it apart from the inside. Effective against a wide variety of targets.

The Bolt Pistol uses 10-round magazines, but has unlimited ammunition, meaning you still have to reload, but you'll never run out of replacement magazines.

The default pistol can be replaced by the Plasma Pistol in Chapter 6. However, should you keep the Bolt Pistol, picking up the Kraken Bolter in Chapter 10 will also improve your Bolt Pistol damage nicely.

StrategyEdit

Since you have infinite ammo, you don't have to worry about conserving it. It is best used when advancing on an enemy, softening it up for follow-up melee attacks. Try to get head shots to conserve your small magazine loads and reload less frequently. You can also "snipe" off weak enemies from range with the pistol, but the accuracy isn't great and the steep damage falloff over range makes it considerably less effective.
