Exterminatus Mode pits an elite squad of up to four Space Marines against hordes of alien enemies in a score-based fight to the death. You can choose from the Tactical, Devastator or Assault Marine classes as well as utilize any weapons and perks available to those classes if you have unlocked them.

The two Space Marine Exterminatus scenarios – "Assault on Hab Center Andreas" and "Escape From Kalkys Facility" – feature four separate arenas with 5 waves of enemies in each arena, with a bonus wave in the last arena. The first 20 waves consist of Orks while the bonus stage is full of Daemons and Heretics. Stages can be diversified into two major types akin to Annihilation/Seize Ground mode in Versus. An Annihilation type stage would just require the Marines to whittle down waves of enemies. A Seize Ground mode would be a lot more challenging, for Marines are required to capture designated point(s) while fending off endless amounts of foes which would very easily mean a game over if not properly managed.

The "Chaos Invasion" scenario also consists of 4 arenas and 20 waves, with a bonus wave at the end. The player fights as a Chaos Space Marine against waves of Orks and Imperial Guard/Space Marines, sometimes at the same time, sometimes in separate waves. The Orks and Imperial Guard/Space Marines will also fight each other if no players are nearby, and they are capable of killing each other as well. Just like the Space Marine scenarios, the Chaos scenario has annihilation and capture rounds.

Performance is scored and displayed on the leaderboards, encouraging players to take the risk on dynamic in-game challenges that pop up during play (for example, "Kill 10 Orks in 10 seconds") with extra lives and points up for grabs if a challenge is completed.

Experience earned in Exterminatus counts towards multiplayer ranks, allowing players to level up in both Versus and Exterminatus simultaneously. Weapon and armor challenges, however, cannot be gained in Exterminatus.

Because extra hidden achievements were accidentally put up on Steam earlier (and subsequently removed), it is speculated that 9 more achievements may be added for Exterminatus later on.

Scoring[]

Points are given for each kill in a manner like so:

In addition, the player gain bonus points for special types of kills. Most of these bonus point modifiers are the same as the ones in Versus mode, such as "Variety", earned for dealing damage to the same enemy with multiple weapons.
